Chez Marie et Maxime · Central Reims
Chez Marie et Maxime pours three champagnes in their cellar in the Boulingrin district, with a sommelier explaining grapes, making and the region. Pick it when you have an hour in Reims and want to taste with someone who'll answer questions.

Chez Marie et Maxime is a small wine cellar at 25 rue Henri IV, in the Boulingrin district north of the cathedral. The hosts are a brother and sister. According to their Winalist host page, Marie is a trained sommelier who spent 15 years at a restaurant in Alsace, and Maxime came to wine from engineering. The tasting runs about an hour: three different champagnes, with commentary on the grape varieties, how champagne is made and the region, in English or French.
Keep your expectations right. There's no cellar tour, no vineyard and no food; the listing excludes pairings. What you get is a seated hour with a professional, which is the most useful hour you can spend before a house visit, because you'll know what to ask. It also fits a short gap: between the cathedral and a train, say.
Adults only: the listing rules out under-18s and pregnant women. The cancellation terms differ between the sites that resell it, so read the window GetYourGuide shows at checkout before you pay. At $51 it is the cheapest champagne experience on this site, and the only one in the city centre.
