À la Française Champagne ! · From Reims
A local guide meets you outside Reims Centre station at 2pm and drives you to two family-run wineries and Dom Pérignon's village of Hautvillers, back by 6:30pm. Pick it because it covers the half of a Reims day the big houses can't: growers out in the villages, which you won't reach on foot.

À la Française Champagne ! starts this one outside Reims Centre station, in front of the tourist information office on the Cour de la Gare. A minivan of eight at most drives half an hour into the vineyards. You spend 1.5 hours at a first family winery, 45 minutes in Hautvillers, and another 1.5 hours at a second producer, with three tastings at each: six glasses in all. Hautvillers is the stop people remember. Dom Pérignon lies under a plain stone slab in the Saint-Sindulphe abbey church, and about forty wrought-iron trade signs hang over the streets.
The wineries aren't named, and they change with the guide's schedule. That's normal for grower tours here, and guests report meeting the owners in their own press houses and cellars. What you won't get is a great house. Those you book yourself, and the 2pm start leaves the morning free for exactly that: Pommery runs a one-hour cellar tour from EUR 30 and opens all year, reachable on bus line C in about 20 minutes from the station, while Mumm starts at EUR 30 in the centre. A big house in the morning, the growers after lunch. That is the best Reims day we know of.
The small print. No lunch, no under-12s, no wheelchair access, and the tour runs only with two or more guests (book alone and the operator reschedules or refunds). It leaves from Reims Centre, not Champagne-Ardenne TGV, which sits 8 km out of town. Coming in by train? The operator won't refund a booking lost to a missed or misbooked train, so leave a margin. Cellars hold around 10°C all year, so bring a jacket in August too.
Book a cellar visit yourself: Pommery, Mumm or Veuve Clicquot all run tours of an hour or so. Eat lunch in town afterwards.
Outside the station, in front of the tourist information office. Then 30 minutes by minivan.
About 1.5 hours with a family producer: vines, press house, cellar and three tastings.
45 minutes in Dom Pérignon's village, with the abbey church and the view over the Marne valley.
Another 1.5 hours and three more tastings at a second estate.
Drop-off where you started, in the centre of Reims.

Two family-run wineries that the listing doesn't name; they change from day to day. You won't visit a big house on this tour. Our guide to the best champagne tour in Reims sets it against the other options.
To some. Mumm is in the city centre, and the Saint-Nicaise hill houses (Ruinart, Veuve Clicquot, Pommery, Taittinger) are on the south-east side; Pommery says bus line C gets you there in about 20 minutes from the station. The family growers on this tour are out in the villages, which is why it comes with a minivan.
Not for children under 12, and not for wheelchair users.
Yes, and you should. Book a morning cellar visit at Pommery, Mumm or Veuve Clicquot, have lunch, and meet the guide at 2pm. Our guide to the champagne houses in Reims lists their prices and opening days.
